Electronic System for Travel Authorization
Electronic System for Travel Authorization also known as ESTA, is an authorization system for non-U.S. citizens to be able to apply for a Visa Waiver. The Visa Waiver is only associated with certain countries and can be approved for people that have some sort of desire, in business, shipments and enjoyment, to visit the U.S. Some countries that take part in ESTA include: United Kingdom, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Netherlands, Singapore, Slovakia, Switzerland, Taiwan and many other countries. All non-U.S. citizens are allowed to visit for a maximum period of 90 days. ESTA can become legal for either 2 years or until the current passport expires. ESTA was originally established in regards to having the US security strengthened as well as to making the authorization procedure go by quicker. The Visa Waiver program has been advanced inside the U.S., in order for other people from different countries to be able to come into the U.S. without acquiring a permanent visa.
The ESTA application can be filled out online, and if there are any difficulties filling out the form contacting ESTA will help with any of the form's questions. The travel authorization number does not need to be printed but it is highly recommended to keep a copy of the authorization in a secure location, in case if any information needs to be updated. If the authorization number does become lost, the person would still be capable of entering the U.S., unless the information needs to be updated. Applying for a Visa Waiver is highly recommended 72 hours before leaving the country to the U.S. If and when applying for esta, a person can been given a "Travel not Authorized" reply. If this happens, it would be best to attempt registering for a non-immigrant visa at the U.S. embassy.
